FEBRUARY 2017 UPDATE

OUR DISTRICT

OFFICIAL - Happy to officially report that our District Governor Nominee Designee for 2019-2020 is David Schribman and the District Treasurer for 2017-2019, is Peter DeNicola, both from the White Plains Club.  The District Nominating Committee had a representative from each of the seven areas in our District and they did an outstanding job.  Well done!

VISITS - Attended three club/area meetings during February and each had a  full program celebrating the many facets of Rotary. Kudos to Elmsford President Syed Alirahi and AG JT McFadden, Briarcliff President Scott Lanoff and AG Larry DeNoia, and Chinatown President Anny Jiang and AG Mary Shackleton! The Briarcliff Club meeting served as an District Area meeting and therefore we also received updates from the Presidents/President Elects from the local clubs (Croton- Gregory Schmidt, Ossining- President John Gallagher and President Elect Cecilia Gutierrez, Briarcliff President Elect Mark Johnson), including an update from PDG George Camp and my update on the upcoming District events listed below.

IN MEMORIAM - Just a week ago, I reported the passing of PDG David Black 1993-1994 and notice of a memorial service to be held on March 25 at Huguenot Memorial Presbyterian Church, 901 Pelhamdale Avenue, Pelham, NY. I received this beautiful picture of Dave from Ted Nygreen and wanted to share it with everyone.

Our 1.2 million-member organization started with the vision of one man—Paul P. Harris. The Chicago attorney formed one of the world’s first service organizations, the Rotary Club of Chicago, on 23 February 1905 as a place where professionals with diverse backgrounds could exchange ideas and form meaningful, lifelong friendships. Rotary’s name came from the group’s early practice of rotating meetings among the offices of each member.
