The birth of this new club at the start of the depression years brought out at once the true Rotary spirit. Early members and people in our community needed and were given medical aid, dental care and legal advice. A repair shop was set up where men, unable to work, were permitted to repair furniture and appliances. Finally, jobs were found, families were again self-sustained and Rotary Club of Larchmont had put Service Above Self!
Since then, the Rotary Club of Larchmont has engaged in many local philanthropic activities in addition to being a consistent supporter of the new and on-going initiatives of Rotary International.
| Rotary Club of Larchmont has an active guest speaker program every Friday -- at the Larchmont Yacht Club starting at 12:15. In 1962, the Club established its own charitable foundation, known as the Staten Island Rotary Foundation (SIRF) to perpetuate the ideals of Rotary through gifts, devises or gifts of money or property that may be made to the Club for educational, charitable or other philanthropic purposes. We meet three times a month at the beautiful and historic Downtown Association (DTA) located one block north of Wall Street at 60 Pine Street.
For two of the meetings, we feature a presentation, from a speaker, that is always interesting and topical.
A third meeting, at the DTA, is a Club Assembly which is a working meeting where we plan our numerous service projects and special events.
The fourth meeting, of the month, is usually an off-site Social.

We have a formal luncheon program every week, and typically have 60 people in attendance. The cost is $22 plus $3 hotel parking. | The club is extremely active in local fundraising and with community organizations. We are the largest provider of scholarships for students of the 3 high schools in White Plains. Our contributions for scholarships and local community organizations over the past 15 years exceeded $689,000. Plus, we have an active international service involvement, particularly with our sister club in Ecuador where we have donated a significant amount for community development there. Address: 2192 Central Park Ave, Yonkers PRESIDENT: Gus Nathan SECRETARY: Gus Nathan | Yorktown | Chartered 1949 | Area 2 | The Rotary Club of Yorktown was established in 1949 through the sponsorship of the Peekskill Rotary Club. In 2010 we celebrate our 60th Anniversary.
Our locale is at the Top of Westchester, which just so happens to be the name of our weekly newsletter. Our present membership is 28 active Rotarians. In the next month or so, we will be contemplating additional members and hope to reach our goal of 30 members by the end of this Rotary year.
Our speakers are from very diverse backgrounds, and attract Rotarians and guests. We have developed wonderful relationships with members of other Rotary clubs, and it's not unusual to have them attend our meetings, as well as visiting with them in their clubs. We call ourselves the traveling Rotary Club.
Our main fund raiser, The "Hole-in-One" Golf Contest, in October allows us to make significant contributions to the community and international projects.
