Youth Services Committee

This committee shall provide guidance and advice to the Governor on all aspects of the Four Rotary Programs - Interact, Rotaract, RYLA, and Youth Exchange – help provide young people with education and valuable life skills to ensure a better future.

Interact Program

Interact is an international organization of service and social clubs for young people of secondary school age that fosters leadership and responsible citizenship and promotes international understanding and peace. Interact clubs are sponsored by Rotary clubs which provide guidance and inspiration, but interact clubs are self-governing and self-supporting. The membership base of a club can be drawn from the student body of a single school or from two or more schools from the same community.

Rotaract Program

Rotaract is a Rotary-sponsored service club for young men and women ages 18 to 30. Rotaract clubs are community-based or university-based and are sponsored by Rotary clubs. Club members – commonly known as Rotaractors – participate in projects that assist their communities and advance international understanding. They also engage in activities related to professional development and leadership training.

RYLA Program

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is an intensive training program for community youth leaders. Young people chosen for their leadership potential attend an all-expenses-paid seminar, camp, or workshop to discuss leadership skills and to learn those skills through practice. RYLA is organized differently from area to area. While the age range is 14-30, most events focus on a narrower age range.

Youth Exchange Program

Each year, local Rotary districts and clubs worldwide arrange thousands of international Youth Exchanges for high school-aged students. A primary goal of the program is to foster world understanding by way of intercultural exchange. There are two principal types of exchanges, either long-term exchanges (an academic year) or short-term exchanges (from several days to several weeks).
