Who Are We?
District 7230 is a vibrant community of Rotarians and Rotaractors committed to service, leadership and meaningful impact. Spanning New York City and Bermuda, our district brings together professionals and emerging leaders who are passionate about strengthening communities locally while advancing Rotary’s global mission.
Through hands-on service projects, partnerships, and advocacy, our members address real needs, from supporting education and health initiatives to fighting disease, promoting peace and uplifting underserved communities. As part of Rotary International’s global network of more than 1.2 million members, District 7230 is proud to turn compassion into action and ideas into lasting change.
December also marks Rotary’s Disease Prevention and Treatment Month, when we highlight our members’ work to promote health and wellness, including mental wellness. Globally, nearly 1 in 7 people have a mental health disorder, according to a recent World Health Organization report. Yet only 9 percent of people with depression receive adequate treatment.
We are fortunate in Rotary to have a powerful way to support emotional well-being and happiness: friendship. The connections we build in Rotary can be a powerful force for change. I know this from personal experience.Together, let’s rise to meet this global challenge and build a future where health, dignity, and hope are within everyone’s reach.
Rotary Club of Harlem Packs Over 30,000 Meals at “Food for the Soul” Community Event
The Rotary Club of Harlem brought service to life in an extraordinary way during November 22nd’s Food for the Soul meal-packing event, a powerful testament to what can be accomplished when compassion meets collective action. With the help of more than 60 dedicated volunteers, Rotarians worked side by side to package 30,024 nutritious meals for Harlem families and local food pantries.
This project served as a vivid reminder of the urgent needs many households continue to face. By mobilizing volunteers, partnering with community supporters, and committing hours of hands-on service, the Rotary Club of Harlem demonstrated the best of Rotary: meeting people where they are, uplifting neighbors in need, and transforming care into action.
What made this event truly special was not just the number of meals packed, but the spirit behind the effort, the teamwork, the shared purpose, and the commitment to ensuring that every family has access to something as fundamental as a healthy meal. It reflected the very heartbeat of Rotary’s mission to create lasting, positive change in our communities.
A heartfelt thank you to the members of the Rotary Club of Harlem, as well as every volunteer and donor who made this day possible. Your leadership, generosity, and enthusiasm show what true community impact looks like.
Together, we serve. Together, we uplift. And together, we make a meaningful difference, one meal, one family, one act of kindness at a time.
Peekskill Rotarians Step Up at the Annual Turkey Trot to Support Local Families in Need
Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Peekskill once again demonstrated what it means to live “Service Above Self” as they proudly marched in the community’s annual Turkey Trot, supporting Caring for the Hungry and Homeless of Peekskill, Inc. This beloved local event brings residents, volunteers, and leaders together each year to raise awareness and resources for vulnerable families, and our Rotarians showed up in full spirit to stand with their neighbors.
As they walked alongside community members, Peekskill Rotarians helped amplify an essential message: that no one in our community should face hunger or homelessness alone. Their presence reflected Rotary’s enduring commitment to compassion, collaboration, and meaningful action. Events like the Turkey Trot highlight how local service strengthens the fabric of our communities and demonstrates the powerful role Rotary plays in bringing people together for a common good.
A heartfelt thank you goes to the dedicated Rotarians who represented District 7230 with generosity, unity, and enthusiasm. Your energy and leadership remind us that even the smallest steps, taken together, can create lasting impact and hope for those who need it most.

Rotary Club of Hamilton Featured in the Royal Gazette for Advancing Community Awareness on Ocean Science |
Dr. Carlson also spoke candidly about the financial landscape for scientific research in the United States. He noted that while the federal government has adopted a more “down-focused” approach to science funding, BIOS has continued to navigate these challenges through creativity, strong partnerships, and support from philanthropic organizations such as the Simons Foundation International. He highlighted that agencies like NASA, the National Science Foundation, and NOAA remain deeply aware of BIOS’s value and have forward-funded the institute through 2027 to help maintain stability during these uncertain times.
In addition, Dr. Carlson emphasized the critical role of microbial oceanography, one of BIOS’s specialties, and explained how studying micro-organisms offers insights into both biological and chemical processes of the ocean. This research has positioned BIOS as a global hub for scientists seeking to deepen understanding of how the ocean absorbs heat and carbon dioxide, and how those processes influence climate trends over time.
The event also welcomed visiting Rotarian Scott Bleecker from the Rotary Club of Cataraqui-Kingston in Ontario, Canada, who highlighted the shared values between the two clubs: service, youth engagement, environmental care, and international friendship. His remarks underscored how Rotary’s global network continues to inspire collaboration across borders.
The Rotary Club of Hamilton’s efforts reflect Rotary’s People of Action spirit, bringing community leaders together, elevating public understanding, and supporting scientific advancement that benefits our world. District 7230 celebrates their ongoing commitment to education and environmental stewardship.
