Educational Toys Allay Fears
Sunday March 1st saw an unusual get-together. Fredlee Ann Kaplan of Gift of Life International along with members of The UN Rotaract Club and of Rotary Club of New York met to create medical play dolls for hospitalized children in GOLI's Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Program in El Salvador.

The purpose of these dolls is to enable the children in the program to learn about medical procedures and practice them on the dolls with staff and parents so that they are less worried while in the hospital. These play experiences are proven through research to help children relax and be more cooperative with staff and heal more effectively.

Everyone at Sunday's session had a great time, shared some pizza and made over 20 dolls. The Rotaract Club is committed to holding future events to keep supplying dolls to Benjamin Bloom Hospital in San Salvador. The partnership between the Rotaract Club, the RCNY and GOLI is special to all of us!
