Rotarian Syed is the District Governor for 2024-25. On 1 July 2022, he became the District Governor Nominee (DGN), and the District Governor-Elect (DGE) on 1 July 2023. He took over as the District Governor on 1 July 2024. For the past year 2023-24 he was Deputy Governor in charge of the Area Governors.An Electrical Engineer by profession, Syed ran his own business in Elmsford for over 35 years. Through involvement in the local fire department, auxiliary police department, and as a principal of Sunday School, DGE Syed Alirahi has committed to acts of service and impactful leadership. Over the last ten years, as a dedicated member of Rotary International, community service has played an important role in his life.
DGE Syed was the Charter President of the Rotary Club of Westchester which came into being in November 2020. As President, he directed the Club's service events, trained new Rotarians, and helped boost membership in the District. He participated in his Club's International service projects in the Dominican Republic and in Pakistan.
Joining the Elmsford Rotary Club in 2012, Syed served as the Club's Membership Chair and International Service Chair becoming Club President in 2016-17.
At the District level, Syed was the District Membership Chair in 2015-16 and 2016-17 and Assistant Governor during 2019-20. He has attended the Rotary Conventions in Houston, Melbourne, and Singapore

Within his community, Syed was the Chief of the Elmsford Volunteer Fire Department in 2019 and Lieutenant in the Greenburgh Auxiliary Police Department. He is the Principal of the ISWR Sunday School and a member of the Hispanic Relations Association.

Syed lives Rotary - his wife Shazia and 5 daughters Sadia, Nadia, Ayesha, Asma, and Amber are all members of the Westchester Rotary Club.
