Biography: Vice Governor Martin Schulman

Martin "Marty" Schulman served as District Governor for the Rotary year 2022-23. He was Vice-Governor for 2024-25 in the administration of DG Syed Alirahi and returns in that role for 2026-27 under DG Maksud Chowdhury.
Marty was born and educated in New York City. He attended The Cooper Union, graduated from The City University of New York and is licensed as an ophthalmic dispenser, contact lens practitioner and optician. He is also a fellow of the National Academy of Opticians and charter-certified by the American Board of Opticianry. Since 1982, he has owned Trapp Optical, a group in Westchester County and Greenwich CT. He proudly shares his business responsibilities with his youngest child, Charles M Schulman, as well as his brother David B. Schulman. Trapp Optical group received the prestigious award as 2020 Best Family-Owned Business bestowed by the Westchester-Fairfield Publishing Group, The Westchester Business Journal and WAG magazine.
Marty and his wife, Dr. Lois Schulman, a retired school administrator, are active supporters of The Rotary Foundation. They reside in Upper Nyack, NY and are parents of five grown children and five beautiful grandchildren.
Marty served as director/ president of The Maxwell Institute, St Vincent's Hospital Westchester Division, director/ president of Family and Community Services of Eastchester NY.
An active member of the Bronxville Rotary Club since 1983, president in ‘88-89, director and program chair ‘09-18. Also, a trustee of The Bronxville Rotary Foundation ‘89-97.
As District 7230 membership chair from 2019 to 2021, Marty assisted in educating and promoting club health, membership attraction, engagement and retention. New district-wide membership initiatives resulted in record growth with four new club charters, doubling the number of Rotaract clubs plus adding three new Interact clubs.
Marty enjoys golf, travel, extensive reading and continued daily studies.
