Interact
Interact clubs bring together young people ages 12-18 to develop leadership skills while discovering the power of Service Above Self. Find out how serious leadership can be seriously fun. Interact clubs are sponsored by Rotary clubs which provide guidance and inspiration, but Interact clubs are self-governing and self-supporting. Interact clubs organize at least two projects every year, one that helps their school or community and one that promotes international understanding. Rotary club sponsors mentor and guide Interactors as they carry out projects and develop leadership skills. The membership base of a club can be drawn from the student body of a single school or from two or more schools from the same community. Check with your school or contact a local Rotary club to find out if there’s an Interact club in your area. Rotaract
Rotaract clubs bring together people ages 18 to 30 to exchange ideas with leaders in the community, develop leadership and professional skills, and have fun through service. Rotaract clubs are community-based or university-based and are sponsored by Rotary clubs. Club members – commonly known as Rotaractors – participate in projects that assist their communities and advance international understanding. They also engage in activities related to professional development and leadership training. Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is a leadership development program for young people who want to learn new skills, build their confidence, and have fun. Young people chosen for their leadership potential attend an all-expenses-paid seminar, camp, or workshop to discuss leadership skills and to learn those skills through practice. RYLA is organized differently from area to area. In our District 7230, high school sophomores get this extraordinary experience. New Generations Service Exchange is a short-term, customizable program for university students and professionals up to age 30.
Participants can design exchanges that combine their professional goals with a humanitarian project. With your host Rotary district, you’ll plan activities that can include networking, relationship building, humanitarian service, professional development, and leadership training. Exchanges last from a few weeks to six months and can be arranged for individuals or groups. University students and professionals up to age 30 — including current and former Rotaractors and former Interactors, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards participants, and Youth Exchange students — are encouraged to apply. You don’t have to be a member of Rotary to participate in an exchange. Contact a local Rotary club to see what exchange opportunities are available and what the application process involves.
Rotary Youth Exchange
Rotary Youth Exchange builds peace one young person at a time. Students learn a new language, discover another culture, and truly become global citizens. Exchanges for students ages 15-19 are sponsored by Rotary clubs in more than 100 countries. A primary goal of the program is to foster world understanding by way of intercultural exchange. There are two principal types of exchanges, either long-term exchanges (an academic year) or short-term exchanges (from several days to several weeks).
